A corporate lawyer with more than 13 years experience, Piny Ly first heard about CCF in June 2019. After two visits, she relocated to Phnom Penh from Hong Kong in February this year to volunteer with CCF and to reconnect with her cultural roots. Piny’s family had fled Cambodia and the Khmer Rouge regime before settling in Australia in 1980.
Piny, who is a committee member of the. Cambodian Association of Hong Kong (CAHK), responsible for raising awareness of Cambodia in Hong Kong, has recently joined the Board of CCF Hong Kong, the first Cambodian to do so.
Here, in her own words, Piny reflects on the visits to CCF that inspired her to leave her life in Hong Kong to work with some of the impoverished families and children in Cambodia.
