Lasting change requires a deep-rooted understanding of the community, its people, and the daily struggles they face
For over 20 years, we’ve partnered with the Steung Meanchey community to develop a model that addresses the complex issues of poverty.
Basic Needs
We help families meet their basic needs with consistent meals, clean water, and safe homes.
Learn more about basic needsSchool isn’t an option when families are fighting to survive
We fundamentally believe that a parent should not have to choose between sending their child to school and having food on the table.
Shelter
When families have nowhere else to go, they build homes from scraps around landfill. With our partnership with World Housing we build safe and clean villages for families to raise their children.
Clean water
Living with dirty water makes kids sick, keeps them out of school, and in some cases, threatens their life. To keep our community healthy, we provide clean water at each of our community schools.
Food
Severe malnutrition has a profound impact on a child’s development. That’s why we provide free meals to students during the day and Cambodian staple foods to families who are committed to their child’s attendance in the classroom.

Family & Community
We care for the wellbeing of our community and help families create safe places for their kids to grow in.

By investing in the community, CCF has built a sense of community pride and responsibility, encouraging people to come together and support each other.
Childcare
With no one else to care for their young children, mothers put infants in the same carts they collect garbage with. Our nursery and daycare provide a safe alternative.
Medical Clinic
In Steung Meanchey, waterborne diseases, chronic illness and malnutrition threaten the lives of those who can least afford treatment. Severe illness, congenital diseases and death in the family are a major disruption to a child’s life. CCF’s free medical clinic is located at the heart of the community to treat the most vulnerable and keep families together.
Foster care
In recent years, the safety and stability the World Housing villages have been able to create for the families has meant CCF has been able to implement a foster care program for children who do not have the option of being reintegrated with family members. Now they can be placed with loving families within CCF’s care.
Emergency assistance
When you don't have very much it is very easy to lose everything. Fires and floods are devastating for people living in extreme poverty. That’s why we help families get back on their feet.
Community awareness and training
Drug abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and neglect are prevalent in our community. We’re working with the local authorities and families to address it.
Financial stability
To make ends meet, many people are forced to take on loans with impossible interest rates. Cambodian Children’s Fund provides a variety of loans with low interest rates to help families escape crippling debt.
Family & Community
We care for the wellbeing of our community and help families create safe places for their kids to grow in.
Education
We’re providing a world-class education right in the heart of the impoverished communities.

At a young age, Sreynuch was denied the opportunity to study. Now, Sreynuch is the first in her family to reach secondary school.

Less than half of pre-school aged children in Cambodia are in structured learning environments. CCF’s kindergarten is a child-centered, developmentally appropriate, integrated program of learning preparing students for successful transition to school life.
Primary School
Cambodia's half-day Public School education lacks enough qualified teachers, compounded with over crowding and poor learning environments. CCF ensures all students are enrolled in Public School, plus we provide education in our own community-based schools for the other half-day to give students a well rounded full-time schedule of learning.
Secondary School
Nationally, half the students that started Grade 1 in 2016 will drop out before reaching Grade 9. CCF's focus is keeping children in school and providing the highest quality education possible. We provide full-time education in our own schools at secondary school level.
University and vocational training
The aim of the CCF’s Careers & Life Skills program is to support the students’ transition from impoverished beneficiary to financially stable and active member of society. We provide university scholarships, vocational training opportunities, careers development training and job placements.

Our community
This is where it all comes together
Just minutes outside of the hustle and bustle of our country’s capital, you’ll find Cambodian Children’s Fund.
We’re situated around 100 acres of the former Steung Meanchey landfill—where parents and their children live and work, scavenging for recyclable material to sell.
Over the last 16 years, we’ve empowered our community to find a path to a better future.
Kids couldn’t get to school, so we brought it to them. They had nowhere safe to play, so we created a playground. Parents didn’t have a place to take their kids when they scavenged, so we built a nursery. Illness and disease plagued our community, so we opened a free medical clinic.
Now, more and more young children who once toiled in the now-closed garbage dump are now embarking on paths that seemed impossible just a few years ago.
We have created a model that is a blueprint for poverty reduction, community development and social cohesion.
