Nine years ago, Mony Sun was a student with a big idea.
As leader of a school giving group called ‘The Change’, Mony launched a fundraising campaign to build a playground for children at Cambodian Children’s Fund.
She oversaw the project from design to fundraising, and in December 2017, the Naga Den playground was officially unveiled.
On June 24 this year, Mony, daughter of Deputy Prime Minister HE Sun Chanthol, and newly married, returned to CCF with her husband, Vireak Eung, son of Okhna Khun Leang, to revisit the playground she helped create nearly a decade ago.
Together, they spent time with CCF founder Scott Neeson, meeting children at CCF’s Yeo's Kindergarten (bottom left) and visiting the playground that Mony helped build almost a decade ago (right).
They also visited the new nursery, seeing firsthand how CCF continues to support the next generation of Cambodian children.
And saw some of the children who benefit from being off the streets and in a safe environment during the day.

The couple also donated USD $160,909.00 from their wedding registry donation to support CCF's work.

Meeting Mony again was an opportunity to reflect on the lasting impact of a young person’s desire to make a difference. What began as a student-led fundraising project has grown into a lifelong commitment to helping others for Mony, now with her husband Vireak by her side.
