Every Sunday, as part of the CCF youth leadership program, 18-year-old Sopheathtra visits the local Grannies and Grandpas to help them out where she can as part of her community volunteer service.
Sopheathtra joined CCF when she was eight years old and lives with her parents in a CCF World Housing village. She studies at the Neeson Cripps Academy.
It means more than just visiting them; it is a way of communicating for self-development and confidence
“I have been volunteering to visit Granny and Grandpa for over a year. It’s a fantastic experience. They are like my biological grandparents,” says Sopheathtra, who is in Grade 11.
“It means a lot to me. It means more than just visiting them; it is a way of communicating for self-development and confidence. Before, I didn’t know how to start asking grannies about their stories. More than communication, it is a way of learning how to manage my time and cooperate with a team of people involved to get things done smoothly."
