Cambodian Children’s Fund (CCF) supporters like John de Neufville are inspired to help in lots of ways to provide a future for thousands of Cambodian children and their families.
John is already sponsoring a child with CCF, but wanted to do more.
So he initiated a fundraising campaign to raise $35,000 USD for CCF to buy a 25-seater school bus that will enable children living in the most extreme poverty in Cambodia to attend school daily.
This isn’t just any vehicle. It’s a lifeline
“This isn’t just any vehicle. It’s a lifeline,” John says.
John, a U.S.-based businessman, sportsman, and philanthropist, aims to hit his goal by the end of August.
CCF works with impoverished communities in Steung Meanchey around the former garbage dump, where children and families once lived and worked. Distance, unsafe traffic conditions, and limited transportation often stand between a child and their chance to go to school.
CCF’s fleet of buses provides safe, free transportation for over 900 students every day — taking them to school, medical appointments, leadership camps, and back home.
But the fleet is aging. Three buses are no longer safe to operate, and repair costs have become unsustainable.
John, a snowboarder, already sponsors an 11-year-old boy, Panith, with his son, Johnny, through CCF, helping fund his education and community support services to keep him in school.
After a visit to Phnom Penh in August to see Panith, John wanted to give more children the opportunity of a life-changing education and help their communities, too.
A new bus will:
Provide daily school commutes for hundreds of children
Enable medical and emergency transport
Support extracurricular programs, leadership training, and community events
Help families reconnect during national holidays and festival
Ensure safe, reliable, and dignified transport for over 1,000 students and families every year

John is determined to raise the full $35,000 to get this essential bus on the road — and he’s calling on supporters to join him.
