CCF’s Maternal Care Program (MCP) supports vulnerable mothers and their babies through pregnancy, childbirth and the crucial early years — helping give every mother the chance to have a safe pregnancy and every baby the healthiest possible start in life.
Since the program began in 2010, CCF has supported more than 1,500 births with ZERO maternal deaths.
Today, the MCP supports more than 150 vulnerable mothers and their babies each year, with 48 babies born healthy in 2025.
Supporting mothers every step of the way
Children are supported from birth to age two, with regular checks to ensure key developmental milestones are met, along with vitamins and vaccinations.
Mothers receive regular health checks, antenatal and postnatal care, vitamins and nutritional support. CCF also helps families with hospital fees and essential supplies for their babies, ensuring that financial hardship does not stand between a mother and the care she needs.
The ‘Welcome Home Baby Kit’, provided by the MCP, contains all of the necessities for a newborn baby, including woollen hats for mother and baby: a Cambodian tradition that promotes good health and protection from the cold (even in Cambodia’s tropical climate).
Education is another important part of the program. Prenatal and postnatal training sessions are offered to mothers who are pregnant or have recently given birth, covering good parenting skills from infant feeding and nutrition to mother-led care such as mental health and domestic violence.
This practical knowledge helps mothers understand their own health, care for their babies and make informed decisions for their families.
A safer start for baby Nita
She received the help she needed throughout her pregnancy and after Nita was born, including health checks, education, vitamins and food. CCF continued to assist with hospital fees, baby supplies, and ongoing care to keep Chantou and Nita healthy.
“This support allowed me to focus on caring for my baby and start paying back debts from my first child’s birth,” says Chantou. “I hope both my children will join CCF’s schools and have a brighter future.”
