Khmer Literacy Volunteer

The role

The Khmer Literacy Volunteer will play a vital role in helping students develop strong language skills. You will contribute to creating a dynamic and supportive learning environment by implementing engaging teaching methods. Working closely with our team, you will help students achieve their literacy goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS (KRA)

CCF is a values based organization where visible leadership, integrity, transparency, responsibility and accountability are expected and where staffs are accountable for demonstrating these values in their work and behaviours.

  • Model the organization’s values and associated behaviours within school’s premise

  • Design and develop comprehensive Khmer literacy course syllabus aligned with learner needs and learning objectives.

  • Create engaging lesson plans, activities, and materials that cater to different learning styles.

  • Incorporate cultural relevance and real-world applications into teaching time.

  • Facilitate Khmer literacy classes for learners of varying proficiency levels.

  • Employ effective teaching methodologies and instructional strategies to maximize student engagement and learning.

  • Provide individualized support and remediation to students as needed.

  • Analyze assessment data to identify areas of strength and weakness, and adjust instruction accordingly.

  • Track student attendance, participation, and achievement

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA (KSC)

The recruiting panel will need to feel confident that the successful candidate understands the CCF values and demonstrates associated behaviors:

  • Visibly ethical, able to demonstrate CCF values in day-to-day work

  • Match the skills with the responsibilities listed above in KRAs

  • Remarkable proficiency in Khmer language and literacy

  • Demonstrated experience in teaching or facilitating literacy programs.

  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse learners and populations.

  • Proficiency in using technology for instruction, assessment, and communication.

  • Passion for adult education and literacy development.

  • Alignment with the organization's mission, vision, and values

OTHER BITS & PIECES

At CCF we care for a lot of children and their families- but we also care about you. To ensure that everyone is safe we require all confirmed volunteers to provide the following before they arrive at CCF:

  • A federal level police screening from your country of residence to ensure you are safe to work with children
  • Two references we can contact for additional background checks
  • Copy of your valid passport
  • A passport photo
  • Proof of your relevant qualifications
  • Travel Insurance for the duration of your placement at CCF (medical evacuation coverage at a minimum)
