IELTS Prep Trainer and ESL teacher

The role

CCF is looking for experienced and qualified teachers to support students with the language skills, test strategies, and confidence needed to achieve their desired IELTS band scores, by providing structured, engaging, and personalized instruction that supports academic, professional goals.

Activities can include:

  • Design and deliver structured IELTS preparation courses targeting all four skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments to identify students’ strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Teach effective test-taking strategies and time management techniques specific to IELTS.
  • Provide detailed feedback on writing tasks and speaking performances according to official IELTS band descriptors.
  • Organize regular mock tests and simulate real exam conditions to build students' confidence.
  • Stay updated with the latest IELTS exam patterns, requirements, and updates.
  • Motivate and coach students to achieve their target band scores.
  • Offer guidance on exam registration, test day procedures, and post-test planning.

OUTCOMES

By the end of the IELTS preparation course, students will demonstrate improved proficiency in Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking skills, confidently apply test strategies, and be well-prepared to achieve their targeted band scores in the official IELTS examination.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, or equivalent English language teaching certification.
  • Proven experience teaching English as a second language (ESL/EFL), ideally with IELTS preparation.
  • Strong knowledge of the IELTS exam format, band descriptors, and scoring system.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to design and adapt lesson plans to meet diverse student needs.
  • Familiarity with current IELTS preparation materials, online resources, and teaching tools.
  • Experience in assessing language skills and providing constructive feedback.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine interest in helping students achieve their goals

Knowledge/ skill

  • In-depth understanding of the IELTS exam structure, question types, and scoring criteria.
  • Expertise in teaching the four language skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
  • Strong command of English grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
  • Ability to teach and model effective test-taking strategies and time management techniques.
  • Skill in designing targeted practice exercises, mock tests, and personalized study plans.
  • Ability to assess students' language levels accurately and provide clear, actionable feedback.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of IELTS preparation resources, both print and digital.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create an engaging, supportive learning environment.
  • Proficiency in using online teaching platforms, digital tools, and interactive learning technologies.
  • Excellent communication, motivation, and mentoring skills to support diverse learners

Experience

  • Previous experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) or English as a Foreign Language (EFL) to diverse student groups.
  • Hands-on experience preparing students specifically for the IELTS Academic and/or General Training exams.
  • Experience conducting IELTS mock tests and simulating real exam conditions.
  • Experience analyzing students' performance and offering personalized feedback to improve band scores.
  • Familiarity with teaching different proficiency levels, from beginner to advanced.
  • Successful track record of helping students achieve target IELTS scores (e.g., Band 7.0 and above).
  • Experience using a variety of teaching methodologies to cater to different learning styles.
  • Background in curriculum design, lesson planning, and adapting resources for IELTS preparation.
  • Experience with online teaching tools, platforms, and digital resources for remote IELTS training.
  • Participation in professional development activities, workshops, or IELTS-related training programs

At CCF we care for a lot of children and their families- but we also care about you. To ensure that everyone is safe we require all confirmed volunteers to provide the following before they arrive at CCF:

  • A federal level police screening from your country of residence to ensure you are safe to work with children
  • Two references we can contact for additional background checks
  • Copy of your valid passport
  • A passport photo
  • Proof of your relevant qualifications
  • Health insurance for the duration of your placement at CCF (medical evacuation coverage at a minimum)
