The birth of a new baby can be a time of great joy, but when you're as poor as our Steung Meanchey families a new baby can mean loss of income while the mother recovers from the birth, an extra mouth to feed and, of course, possible health complications for the mother and baby.
Through our Reproductive Health and Family Planning Program, we work closely with couples to help them make decisions on when and how often to have children, and how many children to have. We support safe motherhood and healthy families. Our program aims to protect the health of women by reducing high-risk pregnancies, as well as the health of children by allowing sufficient time between pregnancies. We teach families about HIV/AIDS and other transmittable diseases.
Our detailed information and counselling services cover all family planning methods and help clients choose a family planning method that's right for their personal needs. We provide a comprehensive family planning service to women, including IUDs, implants, contraceptive pills, contraceptive injections, condoms and emergency contraceptive pills, all at no cost. Where referrals to hospitals or clinics are needed, we make sure the client has free transport.
