Primary STEM Teacher

The Primary STEM Teacher will apply a teaching methodology focusing on activity based, constructivist pedagogies to provide deeper learning to the public school science curriculum for grade 5 and 6.
The Primary STEM Teacher will prepare lesson plans using activities approved by the STEM Officer, meeting the learning standards set by the STEM team. The Primary STEM Teacher will work in the evening Primary STEM clubs at the Neeson Cripps Academy(NCA) providing deeper learning to the students to allow them to thrive in grade 7, to also prime the students to choose a STEM career. This role needs to work collaboratively with English, Math and ICT teachers. During non-teaching hours the Primary STEM Teacher will practice, develop activities and perform other STEM related tasks as directed by the STEM Officer.

Key Liaison: STEM Team, Math, English, ICT Teachers, Education Management Team, Lab Technician
Model the organization’s values and associated behaviors within the Office
Work with the STEM team to plan activity based STEM lessons that meet individual students’ needs, interest and abilities.
Participate in preparing STEM Long Term Plan(LTP), Medium Term Plan(MTP), lesson plans and establish clear learning intention and success criteria. These shall be based on the public school science curriculum, making use of core teaching resources and supplementary materials.
Teach activity based STEM classes to the Grade 5 and Grade 6 cohort at CCF.
Prepare and organize STEM teaching resources and equipment in advance in order to deliver effective STEM lessons.
Take part in professional development related to STEM and teaching, which is offered by CCF both internally and externally.
To apply active learning in the classroom.
Work cooperatively with others in the class such as volunteers or co-teacher
Complete daily attendance according to CCF procedures
Give advice and talk to individual student who have not followed classroom agreements and expectations. Suggest ideas to help them be better students.
Report any concerns or issues regarding student behavior, health, hygiene or well-being to the relevant staff.
Create a list of required STEM resources at primary schools and maintaining STEM teaching resources.
Maintain excellent communication with the STEM Officer and the School Manger in all matters relating to the Primary STEM program and student wellbeing.
Encourage students to set and maintain appropriate standards of classroom behavior through the creation of classroom agreements that outline expected behaviors inside and outside the classroom.
Assess student’s learning by using appropriate assessment tools
Visibly ethical and able to demonstrate CCF values in day-to-day work
Undergraduate Bachelor degree in a science subject areas is preferable
At least 1-year experience as a teacher in any of the science subjects for primary or secondary school
Certificate of Teaching Methodology is preferred
Good in English Both writing and Speaking and verbal communication skills
Be able to use computers skills (Microsoft word and Excel, internet and Email)
Be honest and trustworthy, Patient, respectful and helpful
Take high responsibility, be flexible and committed
High compassion and commitment to work with community people and poor children
Working Hour: Monday – Saturday.
