Apsara White

No visit to Cambodia is complete without attending a Khmer classical dance performance, a centuries-old tradition known for the subtle movements and elegantly curved hand gestures used to convey a story. Apsara dancers – also known as ‘celestial dancers’ - begin training and stretching at a young age to achieve the graceful flexibility that typifies their dance technique. Depending on the combination of movements, silk-garbed dancers symbolize concepts ranging from flowers and flying, to peace and love – and even Naga, the great many-headed snake that symbolizes the very spirit of the Cambodian people.
