CCF’s Star Bakery opened in November 2006 to offer residential education students top-level training in professional level bread and pastry-making within an environment that conformed to international hygiene standards. Today the Bakery also makes cookies and cakes for commercial sale and catering, allowing students to participate in a real business model that will help them transition to sales and management roles. Star Bakery apprentices also produce nutritionally-fortified bread to be distributed to Steung Meanchey families as part of our Community Outreach program.
In 2008 we extended training courses to Steung Meanchey community youth, thereby bringing exciting opportunities to young adults who have previously had little or no access to education or job skills training. In 2009 we redesigned our working space and curriculum to add lessons in restaurant food preparation, management and front-of-house service.
