FUNDRAISING IDEAS

One of the simplest and most effective ways to fundraise is to talk about it! Tell people you know all about CCF and the work that is happening in Cambodia. Tell them about how you got involved, and why the kids at CCF mean so much to you.

Where to start:

  • Start with an audience where you feel comfortable. Many great projects start with one small idea or just one donation, and grow from there! Talk to your family, friends, church group, colleagues, club members, and teammates.
  • Point as many people as possible to the CCF website so that they know where their money will be going and what it will achieve.
  • Invite friends and family to view the PBS story about CCF - which is featured on our home page - or email out the link for the trailer for "Small Voices: Stories Of Cambodia's Children" http://www.smallvoicesmovie.com/trailer.htm

Ideas for events and activities:
  • Host a dinner part for a group of friends and colleagues, with each guest making a pledge to donate to CCF. Write to support@cambodianchildrensfund.org for a CCF DVD to view after dinner, and spend a great evening together while raising money and learning more about CCF.
  • Yoga, surfing, salsa, karate, tennis, cooking lessons . . . what's your skill? How about raising money while sharing your special talent with somebody else?
  • Organize a team or group hike, bike race, or round-robin tennis match - or participate in a city-run marathon - and collect pledges for each mile or hour completed.
  • Organize a karaoke night or cafe quiz as a fund-raising event at home or at a local restaurant. Find a venue, buy a silly prize if you'd like, set an entrance fee to join, and advertise to all your friends.
  • Organize a team of volunteers to do projects – anything from house painting or cleaning out garages, to planting trees or stuffing envelopes – and then contribute the payment for these services to CCF.
  • Arrange a book, toy or clothing sale by gathering any goods that you, friends and family don't want. Price each item, and sell larger items in an auction format. You could also sell homemade cakes or cookies during the evening.
  • Invite guests to celebrate your wedding or birthday by contributing to CCF instead of bringing presents.
  • Make handmade items - like jewelry, knitted scarves or note cards - and sell them. Or hold a special sale for larger items like artwork or handmade furniture.
  • Sell items on eBay and donate the profits.  CCF has registered for Mission Fish, a nonprofit that allows eBay sellers to donate proceeds to a charity of their choice.  To learn more, visit www.missionfish.org.

Ideas for Neighborhoods, Families and Kids
  • Organize a community breakfast or potluck dinner at your school or church. Get kids involved with preparations, planning the menu, selling tickets in advance, and running the event.
  • Kids can sign up to do chores for friends and neighbors – from grocery shopping to snow-shoveling to dog-walking – and then donate their payment to CCF.
  • Hold a bake sale or lemonade stand, or even a car wash.
  • Kids and teens can contribute one month of babysitting earnings or home allowances to CCF.
  • Organize a school or neighborhood flea market and bake sale, with proceeds going to CCF. Donors are welcome to direct their contribution to support the CCF program of their choice.
  • Plan a neighborhood or school variety show/recital with a "tip jar" to benefit CCF.

How to plan a big event:

If you've got the time and resources to plan a large-scale event, pick a venue and start spreading the word! You'll need to consider:
  • Place and time
  • Number of participants
  • Lodging (if applicable)
  • Transportation and parking
  • Access to food
  • Cost
  • Keeping responsible records of all donations
If you are accepting checks at the events, please have them addressed to Cambodian Children’s Fund.

Checks can be mailed to:
